Résumé: The Tampoons are an ethnic group, living in the west and south of Ratanakiri province, they belong to the Mon khmer family and are among the first inhabitants of this area. I guess that they have been under the cultural influence of the Jarais with whom they share a lot musically, especially the fascination for gong playing in animist ceremonies, like all other in this part of south east Asia, but also similar bamboo instruments.
