Résumé: A man from the village of Buariki harvests pandanus fruit in the bush. His wife back in the settlement prepares the fruit by mashing it, steaming it in an earth oven, and crushing the juicy base. The resulting pulpy substance is spread out on a leaf and is dried in the sun for a few days. These tuae are folded into packages and kept year-round as reserve food.
