  • lds04: The Bais are nearly 2 millions, spread around Dali s Erhai lake and Cangshan mountain in west Yunnan. During centuries, they have been influenced by Buddhism, Taoism and various Han music styles.The Bai music can be divided in 2 categories, religious or entertaining. Cai Cun the village by the Erhai lake in Dali, is the home of lots of musicians and singers, this Bai community is very active in maintaining all kinds of ceremonies and rituals. On this cd you can listen to a miaohue a village festival, gathering hundreds of people through the small streets of Cai cun towards a temple where a traditional music ensemble is gathered with string instruments as much as percussions and religious recitation.You can also listen to musicians performing for a new house and a third part with 3 musicians performing for a post funeral ceremony.
