  • lds04: The Nisu, a sub group of the so called Yi previously called Lolo by the Hans are more than one million people in the southern part of Yunnan, belonging to tibeto burman family. The area of Azhahe south of Honghe is home of the southern group of Nisu and other ethnic groups like the Hani or Yao. Here you can listen to the traditional Nisu orchestra, gathering 11 people between 35 and 69 years old. The men instrumentalists are Da Lusha called Wang Liliang in chinese 63 years old plays isong (2 double stringed plucked instrument with a large round body )and singer, Wu Bien Ren 69 plays saxian (3 stringed plucked instrument with a small body) and fili ( a small bamboo reed instrument), Pei Limi 46 plays nuri ( a vertical bamboo flute), Hu Tzami 50 plays tsifili ( a bamboo flute with a copper reed ), Tsa Chate 48 plays chenyen (a 2 stringed bowed instrument: a bamboo erhu), Li Lisang 35 plays liver ( an horizontal bamboo flute), Li Weiyi 51 plays sip ( a leaf from a tree), Ho Hatza 55 plays saxian. Li Se 56 is a male singer and dancer. The singing women are Tza Posi 46, Pu Sansei 49 and Li Apa 49 who also use muga ( copper jew s harp ) and munga ( bamboo jew s harp)
