  • lds04: Indiqué sur la jaquette : Molam singing technique is the epicentre of popular southern lao music, this culture goes beyond the southern lao community in laos and its widespread among the Isan province of north east thailand and various ethnic minorities in southern provinces of laos have adapted with their own style and language to this lao musical from of improvisational lyrics. The main instrument that goes with the lam (singing) is the khene (mouthorgan) of 18 bamboo tubes, here on this cd another instrument is also being played on the tracks recorded in Champasak, the saw, a bowed 2 stringeg instrument. Various styles of Molam exist, related to the place of origin, like the Lam Si pan dong (4000 islands), or Lam Saravan, usually with the addition of a drum. The improvised lyrics goes from serious to more trivial subjects, from quiet to dancing tunes, from acoustic to blasting sound systems.
