Résumé:
The Akha are considered a sub group of the Hani (based in southern part of Yunnan), this tibeto burmese ethnic group is spread over Xishuan banna ( southern part of Yunnan ), Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, they are around half a million people. On this cd, the first 4 tracks were recorded in Ban Peeyer for the Akha new year being celebrated by different villages at different times between end of december and beginning of january, according to the end of harvest. The 2 women are singing SHAKO : Akha melodies accapella with words belonging to ancient stories, poetry or new stories .
